Contact usWhat is Intelligent Mist Technology™?
Our proprietary method for automatically disinfecting door handles. The 99point9 sprays a fine mist cloud of hospital grade formula at regular intervals to kill 99.9% of bacteria, viruses and fungi on the handle surface.
What is in the formula?
The 99point9 disinfectant is Isopropanol and Quaternary Ammonium based. Whereas the Isopropanol kills upon contact and evaporates quickly, the Quaternary Ammonium Compound (Quat) does not evaporate from the surface, providing an extended contact kill time and residual efficacy.
I’ve seen some other solutions that talk about UV or ionization, how is this different?
Our Intelligent Mist Technology™ is the only way to clean soil deposits (sweat, mucus etc.) off the surface. To properly clean soiled handles some kind of liquid needs to be involved. Our Intelligent Mist Technology™ aerosolises a hospital grade disinfectant formula into a wet mist of isopropanol (found in most alcohol-based disinfectant, works when wet) and quaternary ammonia (keeps working when dry) to spray the handle clean, and keep it clean between sprays. UV and ionization kills some surface germs, but can’t do anything to remove soil on the handle. For that reason, the WHO and other regulatory bodies specifically call out both UV and ionization as ineffective at stopping infection spread and do not recommend either solution.
What kill claims do you have?
The 99point9 disinfectant formula is a hospital disinfectant that has been shown to be effective against the following bacteria: Staphylococcus Aureus, Salmonella Enterica, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA). It is also effective against the following viruses: Rhinovirus, Influenza, A2, Norovirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Fungus: T. Mentagrophytes (Athlete’s Foot Fungus).
Is the formula approved by regulatory bodies?
Yes, the formula is manufactured according to European Union (EU) regulations as a disinfectant that actually destroys 99.9% of certain bacteria and other germs. The formula is fully compliant with the Global Biocidal Products Directive, a standard that a significant number of developed and third world countries have adopted, and has been tested and approved by an EU registered toxicologist regarding safety to human health.
Does the 99point9 disinfect the entire door handle? Even the underside?
Yes. With the correct installation positioning, the mist cloud is sprayed onto the whole handle. The Quat-based formula is non-volatile and does not evaporate from the surface, providing an extended contact kill time and residual efficacy. The Quat leaves a very slight residue on the handle’s surface - just enough that when you turn the handle, the formulation gets spread around, even underneath. The more the handle is sprayed and touched, the more effective it becomes. Studies conducted for and approved by the EPA demonstrate that the action of the hand spreads the anti-microbial material to the underside of the handle. Our swab testing confirms that 99.9% of bacteria, viruses and fungi are killed on the whole handle.
Is the formula harmful at all?
No. The formula is non-tainting, non-toxic and food-safe.
How long does each canister last?
Depending on intervals (12hr or 24hr and every 15, 30 or 60mins) the canisters last 17-100 days.
How many batteries does it use, and how long do they last?
The device operates on 3 AA batteries that will last approximately 6 months to 2 years, depending upon the intervals.
How will I know when I need to change the battery or canister?
The LCD screen shows a real-time indication of battery and canister life. When either one is low, the screen will flash to how levels are running low. When it is time to replace, the red light flashes.
Can anyone change the canister?
Yes, it is incredibly simple. Click the device open, one touch button releases the canister holder, and then simply slide the new one in and click the holder back down. Press and hold reset button, then close the device again.
Do I need a 99point9 on every door?
We suggest the 99point9 is installed on doors that are regularly opened and closed and see a lot of traffic. These are where you are at risk from cross-contamination. We think public bathroom doors are a must, and additional doors could be entrance/exit, conference room, locker room, waiting room, canteen, classroom, staff-room etc,. We’re happy to provide personalised consultations.
I already have sanitizer stations, why do I need this too?
Because you can’t know for sure that that your customers and employees are using them, and usage of hand sanitizer is already seeing a remarkable drop-off as our initial diligence begins to fall away. The 99point9 never forgets, and it never leaves hygiene to chance. What’s more, hands are only clean the moment after they’ve been sanitized. Once the gel is dry, anyone could cough into their hands or touch a contaminated surface and not know they need to wash/sanitize again. If they touch a door handle, that infection can spread very quickly. The only way to actively stop the spread is to automatically disinfect the handle, eliminating the threat at the point of cross contamination.
Can I install it on any door type?
Yes. The 99point9 can be mounted on any door with either industrial 3M tape or screws.
Does installation make the door heavy?
No, the device is very light-weight and doesn’t noticeable change the balance of any normal door.
Will the 99point9 accidentally spray my hands?
No. Even though the 99point9 formula will not harm your skin, the 99point9 integrated proximity sensor technology senses when anyone (or anything) over 80cms tall (the approximate height of a small 2 year old) is near the device and prevents the device from accidentally spraying.
